"Don't waste your time doing jobs that someone else can easily do. This is a great way to stay trapped, frustrated and undervalued. Find the things that no one else can do quite as well as you can and do those things really, really well. If there are parts of your job that any trained monkey can perform, try to get your boss to hire someone else to handle those things while you excel at the stuff they can't hire out. This might take time, but if you never do anything that is a waste of time or can be completed by someone else, you'll naturally shape your career path based on your talents and you'll make yourself irreplaceable."
